SMA Mineral - A world full of lime

Economic Responsibility and Corporate Governance

At SMA Mineral, our economic responsibility and corporate governance are fundamental to creating a sustainable and long-term business. Our business concept is built on delivering high customer satisfaction, ensuring financial stability, and maintaining strong business ethics in everything we do. The boxes contain brief excerpts from our 2024 Sustainability Report.

We actively work to ensure compliance with laws and regulations in all countries where we operate. Through clear policies and governance documents, we communicate our core values to all employees and partners. This is done to create a shared understanding of our principles and expectations, which strengthens trust both internally and externally. Our corporate governance is based on transparency, accountability, and open communication.

By maintaining clear decision-making structures and reporting mechanisms, we aim to minimize risks and create the conditions for sound financial development. This includes regular audits, risk assessments, and proactive dialogue with our stakeholders.

Through our commitment to economic responsibility and high business ethics, we contribute to sustainable development and lay a stable foundation for future generations.

Legal Compliance Monitoring

At SMA Mineral, legal compliance monitoring is a central part of our efforts to ensure regulatory adherence and sustainability in our operations. We also keep track of requirements from other stakeholders such as authorities, customers, and business partners. This broad approach helps us identify and manage changes that may impact our operations.

Binding Requirements, Environment, and Work Environment

When legislation or other binding requirements change, it is the responsibility of the relevant manager, together with their team, to ensure that the information is communicated to the affected personnel. To keep the list of applicable laws and regulations up to date, continuous reviews are conducted. This work is complemented by internal compliance audits conducted annually, and every three years in collaboration with an external consultant.

Supplier Follow-Up

Through regular surveys to our suppliers, we aim to influence improvements in the areas we consider important. Based on the overall results of the supplier evaluation, it becomes clear how well a supplier aligns with our operations. The evaluation also serves as a guide for identifying any necessary follow-up actions.

Code of Conduct

How we act is important to SMA Mineral. To clarify the company’s stance on sustainability and conduct, and how we are expected to act and behave, we have an internal Code of Conduct. How our suppliers act is also important to us. To clarify our expectations regarding sustainability, we also have a Supplier Code of Conduct.

Whistleblower System

SMA Mineral’s whistleblower system is available to both internal and external stakeholders and offers a secure and anonymous channel for reporting any type of misconduct, including suspected violations of laws, regulations, or our internal policies.

Long-Term Profitability

Long-term profitability is an important factor in being a reliable employer, but also in taking responsibility for the environment, local communities, and key climate solutions for the future. Our sustainability work is based on the UN Global Compact.

IT and Information Security

In 2024, we established centralized IT support for the group, which manages IT incidents and offers an on-call function outside regular office hours. To further strengthen IT security, we have set up an IT security forum where we continuously evaluate, assess, and systematically manage IT risks.
