At SMA Mineral, social responsibility is a central part of our sustainability strategy. To achieve our goals, we work systematically to identify and analyze risks in our workplaces. This includes not only physical risks but also psychosocial factors that may affect employee well-being.

Through regular risk assessments and open dialogue with our employees, we are able to improve the work environment and foster a culture where health and safety are prioritized.

An important part of this work is understanding how our employees experience their work with us. We conduct regular employee surveys to gather insights into what works well and where there is room for improvement. These surveys help us identify strengths and challenges and contribute to shaping our strategies for a more pleasant and growth-oriented workplace.

By combining our expertise in risk management with insights from our employees, we can actively prevent accidents and ill health. At the same time, we lay the foundation for a workplace that not only meets but exceeds legal requirements and industry standards.

Safe Work Environment and Focus on Health

The majority of our employees work in physical environments, which involves exposure to various types of risks. To minimize these risks and improve the work environment, we continuously work to develop and strengthen our proactive safety efforts. To contribute to a positive work environment, SMA Mineral has also implemented several policies and procedures that address bullying, harassment, gender equality, discrimination, and HR matters.

Engaged Employees

At SMA Mineral, engaged employees are one of our most important strategic assets. We believe that employee engagement is key to long-term success and a crucial factor in achieving our other strategic goals. To ensure this, we actively listen to our employees. We monitor employee well-being and collect their input on important matters.

Our ambition is that all production—from raw material to finished product—takes place under ethical conditions where the rights of every individual are respected. We actively work to create a safe, fair, and inclusive work environment for all our employees.

Safe and Engaging Workplace

A safe workplace with a good working environment promotes well-being and engagement among employees, which is essential for achieving the company's strategic goals. To create structure in our work environment efforts, we follow ISO standards. The foundation consists of systematic health and safety practices, including regular safety inspections, employee surveys, workplace meetings, and performance reviews.

Minimizing Accidents

SMA Mineral works actively to minimize the number of workplace accidents. We prioritize eliminating or limiting risks, although in many cases, personal protective equipment remains essential. To ensure fundamental knowledge in occupational safety and health, we use courses from SSG. At certain facilities, additional local safety training is also required.

Training

Our production facilities involve various risks, making the training of both employees and contractors a critical part of our safety work. To ensure that all employees have the necessary skills to work safely, an individual development plan is established annually.

Responsibility for the Local Community

At SMA Mineral, we see sponsorship as a positive way to support sports teams and non-profit organizations to a reasonable extent. We prioritize visibility in the communities where we or our customers operate and place special focus on youth initiatives and organizations whose values and policies align with our own.
